HR professionals are not yet embracing cloud or seeing the values in business intelligence functionality according to Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC) latest market survey; ‘What Organisations Want in Human Resources Management (HRM) Software’.
The report, which is based on peer data collected from around 5,000 HRM software comparisons , identifies which functions are being sought and their priority.
Unsurprisingly, HR topped the list at 70% with employee performance management at more than 50% closely followed by payroll, performance appraisal, training and development and employee self-service.
However, only 30% of enquiries highlighted the need for business intelligence or analytics while only a quarter added financials and accounting to the wish list.
Requirements for customisation, integration and standardisation produced similarly surprising results. Although 50% said web browser access was a priority, only 20% wanted mobile access. Collaborative system data, workflow and processes was also a low requirement (20%).
Meanwhile, despite the growth of software-as-a-service (cloud) as a cost-effective HR solution only 13% added it to their shopping list.
The results suggest that while HR fully understands and appreciates the value of HRM software it hasn’t yet grasped the value of recent technological advances and how it can benefit their role and ability to cope with organisational change.
